A visit of Aliens - possible scenarios

What do you think will happen if aliens invade the Earth? This kind of topic sounds like science fiction, but we might be able to draw some possible scenarios if we think back our activities. Why do we human beings try to send space crafts to other planets? What are we trying to do after landing? Moving to other planets requires one of the most sophisticated technology and sufficient resources. Therefore, there should be strong reasons and purposes, which are similar to those of human beings.

The reason why alien comes to the Earth will be similar to that of human trying to go to outer space. First of all, many extraterrestrial lives can be curious about other planets. Looking at the blue (perhaps red or green) sky, some of them wonder if there are creatures on the planet, how they look like, or what they eat. Others might wonder the history of the universe and try to pose a hypothesis on when and how the planet took form. As a result, some ambitious guys (girls? we never know) decide to actually visit them. This is the moment when a technology evolution starts.

Moreover, they have another reason, which is more practical and related to their own existence: overpopulation. As is discussed among people on the Earth, this problem leads to food shortage. In search for more food or sufficient place to live and grow foods, aliens may come to the Earth. Food shortage does not seem to be a problem if they get energy from their inner system such as photosynthesis. However, they suffer from energy shortage when the sun provides less energy to the planet for some reason.

It is certain that an alien invasion affects our lives, but the results will vary significantly according to their purpose. They may come to the Earth to actually invade, but may visit it just for some scientific research. In the former case, they destroy the buildings that human made and create things they need. They kill people to avoid the human’s rebellion, which possibly brings forth human extinction. In the latter case, they will try not to contact with human beings in order not to affect the ecological system on the earth. They don’t do anything but to examine and gather data from soil, climate, animals and plants. We human beings do not realize at all that alien is going around on the earth; meanwhile, they go back to their home planet.

To conclude, alien invades the earth because they are curious about other planets and creature living there, or they need to get ample resources on the earth. The consequence differs depending on their purpose of their visit. In a sheer case, human civilization will diminish and we possibly die out, but in an optimistic story, they do not affect our lives at all. If so, alien seems rather closer to human than a threat in science fiction, doesn’t it?
